Pokemon cards are reportedly coming back to McDonald’s this November, giving collectors another small set to chase during an already packed 30th celebration year.
According to PokéBeach, the new Pokemon TCG Happy Meal promotion will begin in the United States on November 5 and run through December 9. Each Happy Meal is expected to include a four card booster pack containing one holo card and three non holo cards.
The entire set will contain just 15 cards, with six available as confetti holos.
We do not know which Pokemon will be included yet, and McDonald’s and The Pokémon Company have not formally announced the promotion. But if the reported details hold, this will be another interesting side set for collectors at a time when Pokemon is already releasing a huge amount of product.
There Will Be Just 15 Cards to Collect
The small checklist is probably the most interesting part of the promotion.
Fifteen cards makes this a much more manageable set than most Pokemon releases, especially with only six holo cards to chase. McDonald’s Pokemon sets have traditionally used reprints rather than completely new cards, so I would expect that to happen again unless Pokemon decides to do something different for the 30th celebration.
The six confetti holos will be the cards to watch.
McDonald’s has used the confetti pattern before, and it gives otherwise ordinary reprints something that distinguishes them from the versions found in normal Pokemon products. Once we know which six Pokemon received that treatment, we should have a much better idea of how much collector demand this promotion could generate.
If Pikachu, Charizard, Eevee, Mew or another major collector favorite ends up on that list, interest could look very different from a set built around less popular Pokemon.
For now, we simply do not know.
The Timing Is Interesting
The reported November 5 launch comes at a very busy point in the Pokemon calendar.
30th Celebration released in September and will still have major products arriving in November and December. Delta Reign releases on November 6, just one day after the McDonald’s promotion is expected to begin.
That means collectors could be chasing McDonald’s cards, opening a brand new main Pokemon TCG expansion and still buying 30th Celebration products at essentially the same time.
It is a lot of Pokemon product competing for the same collector money.
The McDonald’s cards have one advantage, though. They are not another expensive sealed product. A 15 card checklist distributed through Happy Meals gives casual collectors and families a relatively simple way to participate in the celebration without buying booster boxes or premium collections.
That accessibility has always been part of what makes these promotions interesting.
It can also create problems when demand gets too high.
We Have Seen What Happens When Demand Gets Out of Control
Pokemon and McDonald’s have a long history together, but some of the biggest TCG promotions have also attracted heavy secondary market attention.
The 25th celebration promotion in 2021 became particularly difficult to find in some areas as collectors and resellers bought large quantities of Happy Meals looking for cards. More recently, McDonald’s Japan’s 2025 Pokemon promotion was cut short after overwhelming demand led to long lines, food waste and widespread resale activity.
That history matters heading into another celebration promotion.
A 15 card set with six exclusive confetti holos is exactly the kind of product that can attract people who have no interest in the Happy Meal itself. If one of those six cards features a particularly desirable Pokemon, demand could increase very quickly.
The difference this time is that collectors already have plenty of other Pokemon products competing for their attention.
Whether that reduces demand or simply makes November even more chaotic remains to be seen.
What Will the Cards Be Worth?
I would not try to answer that yet.
Until we know the checklist, there is no meaningful way to predict which cards will carry the most value. Even after the cards are revealed, early listings will probably tell us very little.
McDonald’s cards can appear scarce during the first few days because relatively few copies have reached the secondary market. Once millions of Happy Meals begin moving through restaurants, supply can change quickly.
That is why I will be watching completed eBay sales rather than early asking prices.
The confetti holos should command a premium over the regular cards, but the size of that premium will depend heavily on which Pokemon are selected and how easy the cards actually are to pull.
With six holos in a 15 card set and one holo expected in every pack, completing the set may not be particularly difficult if the cards are distributed evenly.
That could make this more of a fun celebration set than an expensive one.
My Read
I like this promotion for exactly that reason.
Not every Pokemon release needs a $500 chase card.
A small 15 card McDonald’s set with six confetti holos sounds like something collectors can realistically complete, and that feels appropriate for a 30th celebration promotion designed to reach far beyond the people buying booster boxes every month.
The biggest question is the checklist.
If Pokemon fills those six confetti holo spots with major collector favorites, this promotion could get considerably more attention than its small size suggests. If the card selection is more ordinary, it may simply become an inexpensive side set people enjoy putting together.
Either outcome is fine.
What I would not do is pay inflated secondary market prices during the first few days of the promotion. These cards are expected to be distributed nationwide for more than a month. We have seen too many Pokemon releases look scarce on day one only for supply to catch up shortly afterward.
For now, November 5 is the date to watch.
Once the 15 cards are revealed, we will have a much better idea of whether this is simply another fun McDonald’s Pokemon set or one of the more interesting small releases of the 30th celebration.
