Most Traded Pokemon Cards

The Most Traded Pokemon Cards list tracks the cards changing hands most often across the market. Rankings are based on how many copies sell each week, combining raw cards with graded copies across every grade.

This is different from looking at the biggest price movers. A card can stay at roughly the same price for a month while hundreds of copies continue to sell. Another card might jump 40% after only a handful of transactions. Both price movement and sales volume matter, but they tell you different things about the market.

Volume gives you a better idea of how much actual demand sits behind a card’s current price. When dozens of copies are selling every week, there is usually a deeper market of buyers and sellers supporting that valuation. When only one or two copies are selling, a single unusual transaction can have a much larger effect on what the market appears to be doing.

That becomes especially important when you are thinking about selling. A card with steady weekly volume can usually be listed near the current market price and still attract buyers. A card with very little activity may look valuable on a price guide but could take weeks to sell unless you are willing to accept less.

In other words, price tells you what a card may be worth. Sales volume helps tell you how easily you can actually sell it.

How to Read the List

Sales per week represents completed eBay sales across raw cards and all graded copies, averaged over the previous 30 days. Using a 30 day average gives us a more reliable picture of demand and prevents one unusually busy weekend from pushing a card much higher than it belongs.

The price shown alongside each card is its current Near Mint TCGplayer market price. This adds important context to the sales numbers. A $6 card selling 40 copies a week and a $300 card selling 40 copies a week are both highly active, but they represent very different parts of the market.

Cards priced below $5 are excluded. Cheap commons, uncommons and other bulk cards can generate large numbers of transactions, but including them would overwhelm the rankings without providing much useful information for collectors watching the broader Pokemon card market.

Japanese cards are included and identified with a JP label. Japanese Pokemon cards trade alongside English cards throughout the secondary market, and excluding them would leave out a meaningful part of overall collector activity.

Sales data is refreshed daily. Pricing comes from TCGplayer and follows its own update schedule, which means the sales and price figures may occasionally be a day apart. The list is designed primarily to show where the most consistent trading activity is happening, rather than short term price movement.
