Obsidian Flames is an August 2023 release from the Scarlet & Violet series featuring 230 cards with a strong focus on fire-type Pokemon and illustration rares. The set marked a continued emphasis on special artwork variants, particularly illustration rares and special illustration rares, which have become highly sought after by modern collectors. This set established key chase cards that remain relevant in the current market, driven by both competitive playability and artistic appeal.

Investment Outlook Neutral While Charizard ex maintains premium pricing, the overall set shows typical post-release depreciation patterns with volatile pricing on lower rarity cards, suggesting stabilization rather than significant growth.

Reprint Risk Medium Charizard ex and other chase cards could see reprints in future premium products, though illustration rares typically have lower reprint probability.
